Statement from Dr. Jamal Bryant Regarding Life Sentences for Ahmaud Arbery’s Killers

“Today in Brunswick, GA, the three individuals who murdered Ahmaud Arbery were sentenced to life in prison, with two of them being ineligible for parole.
While we acknowledge that these sentences are fair and brings a measure of justice for Ahmaud, the Arbery family and this community, I am still shaken to my core at the loss of potential greatness that was needlessly snuffed out by this callous act of murder of this young man.

I prayed with and escorted Ms. Wanda Cooper-Jones, Ahmaud’s mother, to court today, assuring her that the faith community of Georgia will continue to walk with her and this family as the journey of healing continues.”
