Interview With Overseer William A. Brownlee Sr

Overseer William A. Brownlee Sr. was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His spiritual journey, which now aspires to become a Worldwide impact, started at The Church of New Hope and Faith located in the heart of West Philadelphia, PA. While there, he remained under the leadership and tutelage of Bishop James McNeal Jr. Alongside his spiritual commitments, William Brownlee Sr. earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, on a full athletic scholarship from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He later went on to pursue his Master of Divinity at Palmer Theological Seminary School which is located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Yet these were major achievements, they became merely the stepping stones to some of his greatest accomplishments.

Overseer Brownlee later served as a motivational speaker for the Youth Empowerment Program and a keynote speaker for the Men of Excellence Foundation. Both took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Soon, Overseer Brownlee was assigned to many preaching engagements across the country! The presence of God followed him wherever he went; even throughout his childhood. The impartation and cultivation that he received in his youth, under Bishop James McNeal Jr. prepared him for the call and mandate that God placed upon his life.

In 2016, God gave Overseer Brownlee the vision and name for a church that would be the spiritual foundation for non-believers and would cultivate the millennials. This led to a full sacrifice of his NFL football career and an opportunity of a lifetime. In January of 2017; with the grace, mercy, and favor of God that was placed on his life, Overseer Brownlee founded the Emmanuel Christian Center (ECC) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

What was the experience like for you growing up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?

William: Growing up in Philadelphia was survival of the fittest. You had to watch where you go and who you hang around, you had to fend for yourself and focus on building necessary relationships.

When did you know that you were truly walking in your divine purpose to start Emmanuel Christian Center?

William: I knew that I was truly walking in my divine purpose to start ECC when God led me to give up my football career and begin building the church.

As a motivational speaker, what topics move your spirit to talk about the most?

William: The topic that moves my spirit the most is not allowing your past to handcuff your future. You cant let your past circumstances affect how you progress in the future.

What else have you been up to lately?

William: As of lately, I’ve been focusing on the building fund for Emmanuel Christian Center, building a bi-level daycare and I’ve also had the opportunity to speak on a few talk show platforms like the Sisaundra Lewis Show, most recently I completed a Ted Talk which was an amazing experience.

What is a quote that you live by?

William: “It’s not about income it’s about the impact”

What do you hope the remainder of the year looks like for you?

William: A.B.C = Always Be Closing, to close out and execute every project I start.
